I've joined National Theatre Wales as a 'Hive Creative Thinker' and I'll be creating film resources that I will research, script, present, film and edit in response to issues of climate change and the environment. These digital resources will be developed in consultation with teachers, and will be designed to engage with the new curriculum and inspire students to become:
ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives
enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work
ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world
healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
The project is in partnership with Size of Wales and Counterparts Arts, and I'm inspired to focus on issues of deforestation and migration, encouraging young people to become creative activists and have empathy for people from different cultural, ethnic and geographical backgrounds.
"The idea of sharing important community and family news with bees is rooted across the folklore and mythological traditions of Wales and across the world. The story goes that, whenever we fail to do so, the bees will leave their hives and disappear from our area…"
